Looking for Neutral White High CRI Alternative to my Eagletac DX30LC2

I’ve had the Eagletac DX30LC2 for probably 8 years and I can’t find anything to replace it yet.

What I like about it is

  • Thin 22mm tube (No larger head, no protuberances on the tube. )
  • Good throw
  • 2 - Button operation, direct and easy access to high and low.

What I don’t like is the color temp and CRI of the LED in it.

I tried a Convoy S6 but it’s noticeably thicker and while I can set it up to be the highest mode first there’s no easy way to also access the lowest mode.

Not modded an eagletac before, they’re probably glued so perhaps a slightly tricky first LED swap if you’ve not done it before but might be worth a go? Swap in a warmer XPL-HI or perhaps a de-domed 519a ?

Bring both lights to some handy man and ask to swap leds.

Tried on Paramatrek, not many options, seems the eagletac lights are surprisingly narrow for 18650 cell lights! I upped the diameter to 24mm as all that existed at 22mm was variations of your light.

If you’d like a DX30LC2 w/ SST20 R9 CRI95 4000K, they’re available new in stock (2) @ illuminationgear. I have that emitter in several Eagtacs, and I find the ones they use to be particularly nice examples of an SST20.
