Looking for single battery enclosure (AA/14500 and 18650)

Hi,

I’ve been looking for a battery ENCLOSURE (completely encloses the battery), for either 1xAA/14500 or 1x18650 that is wired.

What I mean is something like this:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/190622564257?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&\_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

but for a single AA or a single 18650 battery.

I’ve considered modding one of the battery packs like this:

https://www.fasttech.com/products/1420/10004582/1380101-jib-y1d-2800-2800mah-portable-external-backup-batt

but would prefer just a simple enclosed box with wires.

Has anyone run across something like this?

Thanks,
Jim

Soshine SC-C5 can charge 14500/10440/AA/AAA Lifepo4/Ni-MH batteries. It is a LCD Intelligent Battery Charger with USB Connector.

Would this be for your Home Depot Coast headlight mod? I’m watching

Yes, exactly. I have that 3xAAA battery case I linked, but with that, I have to use 2 dummy AA batteries together with a 14500. That’s not too bad, but it’s a waste of both space and weight having to use the 2 dummy AA batteries, so I hoping to find a enclosure for a single AA/14500 or 18650.

I’ve put together a kind of 10440 simulator that I can attach a 14500 or 18650 to, and it physically substitutes for a AAA battery in the Coast headlamp’s battery holder. I’ll post some pics in the other thread,

Just a thought. 14500 battery compartment

Ouchy,

That’s close to what I’m looking for, but I need leads for the + and -, plus that one looks like it’s open on one end, and I need the battery to be fully-enclosed.

Thanks,
Jim

single cell holder from Digikey and a couple of wires? looks ghetto but works fine, as long as you’re not going out in the rain at least.

On the other thread that Aftrburnr mentioned, I mentioned that the thing I’m working on (modding headlamp) is mainly for indoor use, so waterproof/resistance is not an issue (unless someone was going to dump a bucket of water on my head while I was working on a light :)!).

So, BTW, before this threads gets too off-topic, I’m still looking for suggestions for an/some enclosures?

The perfect enclosure for 1 x AA is one of those small Tylenol tubes that you get in the service station with something like a dozen Tylenol tablets in it. Airtight, waterproof, and almost a perfect fit for a spare AA (with a small puff of foam in each end.) I use them to carry spares in my vehicle etc.

I’m sure it would be easy to drill a tiny hole in each end for a wire and a contact.

For ‘factory made’, try Radio Shack.

Do you have a RS part number? I’ve searched there and didn’t find a fully-enclosed one.

If the battery shouldn't be coming back out, you could take an open holder with leads and coat it in plastidip. It might even make it waterproof.
