I'm looking for a recommendation for a decent compact pocketknife for EDC use. I always carry a lot of gear in my pockets, and so thin and lightweight are requirements! It's mostly used to cut tape on cardboard boxes, so it doesn't see a lot of heavy use.
A couple of years ago, I purchaed the Boker Subcom clone from DX for about $4 and it's been a great knife. @68mm long by 7mm thick (without the clip), it's very easy to carry in my pocket to have available when needed. I liked the stubby configuration a lot more than expected as it fits the hand more comfortably like a larger knife but is still extremely slim. I was recently looking to purchase a spare to keep on hand but couldn't locate it on DX any longer. Can anyone point me to a source to purchase this same knife or a similarly-sized slim pocketknife for EDC carry? I would prefer to keep the options to what's available from common retailers (FastTech/Manafont/DX) but am open to other suggestions. Budget pricing is important since I work where it could end up stolen or lost very easily.
Could you put the knife on a retractable keyring, so it won’t get lost or stolen at work? You could get a nice Boker then, with better steel, instead of a copy.
I EDC two knives, I had to get away from the Victorinox classic for a few years because I needed something different for my work, but I think that I will return to it soon.
The classic is a very fine key chain knife and I think that for most people, it is the best of all.
+100 For me, great ergonomics and grip, and wide blade which can be useful for you for cutting cardboard.
BTW, Keltex, i like your picture, it looks like you got that knife a full and happy life
Of course, it doesn’t have the deep finger choil of your knife, so it may not give as good of a grip. I need two hands to open mine, but have not lubed or adjusted it.
That's it, but it's a lot more expensive than DX was. I went through my old orders and found my original purchase from 1/5/2009 for $4.58 so this knife is a lot older than I thought! But what was really scary was what I realized...
Since late 2008, I've spent $1,078.33 at DX!!! Then another $643.25 at Manafont!
It’s a cool looking knife which I considered not long ago, but due to the construction lockup is not reliable enough for me to consider it safe for my fingers.
GBT11 is IMHO small and light enough for almost any pocket, not to mention very sharp and multifunctional.
I have this and the blade shape is great for opening letters and cutting cardboard; I think it’s quite cute too. The jimping is more aggressive than on the Boker Subcom though, and not so easy to one-hand open.

Just playing with my SRM612 and figured out what you mean about the lockup not being reliable.
Thanks for the tip
I’ve bern using this srm h03 for a bit infact I just ordered another as onevof my little angels has hidden it and is not telling where its excellent for cutting cardboard and the like although, as its uk edc legal, its a slipjoint rather than a locker it has however been nothing but brilliant in use, which is why I reordered just in case mine never turns up.
