I am having a hard time finding the XP-L 5D2 tint emitter. its a nice neutral white, with a very slight redish hue to the tint in that tint bin. roughly 3850 to 4000K range. i know Cutter has them on noctigons, but their shipping is expensive to Canada. DO anyone know of other sources for these?
I do not know if they are the exact ones you like (Fasttech is a bit loose on their tints) but the ones I have of these are a nice tint. About like the 219B’s in the Astrolux A01, maybe slightly warmer…
I have an XM-L2 80 CRI on 5D2, thats never been used yet, someday when i get an iron i’m planning on putting it in a light
This is the second time i know of someone asked for 5D2 specifically, is there something special about it?
its my favorite Neutral white tint, (outside of a 219 or MT-G2 4K) it has a slight hue towards the red side away from the yellow, a bit more pleasing to the eye.
very noticeable, especially in lanterns or flood lights. (they work much better for photos too with cameras than the yellower shade neutral tints. i have lanterns with the same XP-L 4000K Neutral white emitter, but different tint bins and its a big noticeable difference.
I put one of the 219A WW in one of my BLF 348’s, darn near micro surgery, but success! I now have a BLF348 that I can turn off in a dark room and I still have some night vision, and an “extra” 219B V1 in NW for use elsewhere…
Let me know what you think of the 5D XPL from Fasttech if you get them. I like mine, one is in a Manker U11…
I was trying to help you out yesterday by searching Digikey for various bins of XPLs, however, I could not figure out where the bin ID is located (if it is) on the ordering ID. Searching Cree’s datasheet, I noticed that the 5D2 tint can be in the E5, Z5, or F5. Beyond that, I could not find any quantifiable data and assumed you pick your chromaticity and you get either 5D1, 5D2, etc., as long as it is within the color temperature parameters. Can someone confirm my assertion? So then ordering specific bins on Digikey or Mouser would mean contacting someone over there and they would have look at the roll and tell you what bin it is, right?
I wouldn’t mind getting a few of the leds myself, but would prefer to order leds locally, (much faster shipping to Canada).
