Looks like a few new Maglites...

Website still a bit clunky, but improvement over the old:

272 lumen Minimag Pro

New ML300L 2 and 3D with 524 - 625 lumens from alkalines!!!

New MagCharger with 643 lumens.

New MAgTac charger with very ugly tailcap and 533-543 lumens.

Sadly nothing new on the XL front or the regular ML’s….

The photo by the 35 years and counting, is of the 3rd gen mag.

They are slowly getting with the program. I would imagine by now that Anthony Maglica is retired or dead. Either the childern or someone else who has taken over, will make changes trying to bring the Maglite into this century. Unfortunately for us, that will sooner or later mean cutting quality and even bringing parts in from outside the US or farming the lights out to China. I think, in a few years, Maglites will just be a name that used to make quality lights. The new stuff I buy, (within the last two years), does not have the quality it used to. I see a lot of roughness fo threads, poor anodizing, roughness of machining, etc., that would have never been allowed in "the old days". I am sure that trying to hold onto "manufactured in the US", is probably killing them, considering how expensive it is to use US workers, versus going overseas. I imagine they will change soon, or go out. The new, higher powered lights are an attempt to stay in the market.

I wish them well, but I wish they would be able to go back to good quality versus lower costs.

I wish they knew about Modder extraordinaire and Maglite expert Old lumens and hired him in a consulting position, he sure would make them relevant again.

Actually, that isn’t a bad idea. They could do limited run special edition lights in partnership with various modders. Kind of like the Shelby Mustang…

That would be cool!Between here and CPF there would definitely be a market for them.A factory custom MagOL light could sell here for 100$ and they could sell the same light at CPF for 500$! :stuck_out_tongue:

Maglite ML300LX- Maglite Flashlights and Lifestyle Products

Are the knurling differences and the flat anodizing the only things separating this from a 3rd gen LED Maglite? I do not find this knurling attractive myself, although the flat anodizing is interesting / attractive.

It does appear to be that way. It is a 3rd Gen body and head, so probably just the cosmetic changes. Looks like Maglite is trying to gain some of the market back from Chinese lights. I hope they do, but probably not with that look.

I’m with you OL: I’d love for Maglite to grab some market share back but I don’t think that look will do it for them.
