Looks like Zebralight is going with XHP35s in the new SC600 mk3s

Specs on these upcoming lights were added to their product comparison sheet last night. That’s an interesting choice of emitter. Does anybody have much experience with the XHP35?

i am so curious about the sc600 4500k xhp35 i might just preorder one when they are available.

But…. The XHP35 is a 12V led. And the SC600 is a single cell light, right?

How? :open_mouth:

Boost circuit. Zebra’s already have them to maintain constant output, but you’re right this is a different beast from what they normally build.

That zebralight already used them is new to me. But still, boosting the voltage 3 or even 4 times and maintain good output and runtime is that even possible?

This trades driver efficiency for emitter efficiency. Whether that’s a net win remains to be seen, but Zebralight is not known for making design decisions that result in poor performance.

Drivers that boost voltage 3-4x are already common - just not in high current applications. Every single-cell alkaline/NiMH light with a Cree LED has one. The SC5 is already handling a similar amount of current at a similar boost ratio - just at a quarter the voltage.

I like the sound of this. Probably going to be a fair bit floodier than the previous versions.

Sounds like you may be a customer for the HI version that will follow the release of the domed, HD version.

Well most thought it was a good trick to find an MT-G2 run off a single 18650, a 6v emitter from 3.6v cell.

The sc5 is 1.2-1.5v cell running 3.3v emitter so I see almost a 2x boost.

3.6v up to 12+v is closer to 3.3x and really the emitter likes it at the higher voltages I think the spec notes it runs well at 13.2v.

Sure it can be done, but that is not going to be a long run time light.

I bet some folks here would like to see the driver.

Oh no!
There goes my 95 bucks

Cross your fingers and hope its 95 bucks. But then again will pay what they ask for that next fix. Lightjunkie!

I’m curious about this new light, myself. The only other Zebrlight I own is the SC62W, and I love that one.
