Hi all, Hope someone can help. Got my shiny copper edc18 this morning after turning it on once it will now no longer turn on. The green rabbit logo lights up, and I have checked and tightened both ends, but nothing. I have also tried another battery.
I bought it from BangGood so I’m not sure whether to contact them or Lumintop direct ?
You sure you put the battery on the right way? Some of these lights don’t have reverse polarity protection. Which battery are you using? Did you try that same battery in another light? Its also possible you shorted the protection circuit if the battery was a protected battery.
The battery is a an unprotected vtc6 which I have tested in a fw3 which I also have and works fine. I definitely put the battery in the right way. Could
it be the switch ?
Does it flash once when you screw on the battery tube?
Looks like Lumintop bought a batch of defective buttons. There are several complaints from the " Fonarevka.ru", and personally I have such a problem on the HL3A (incorrect operation). The lantern was purchased at BangGood
Found it ! A bad solder joint on the board (?) that has the led’s on. I did take a small video but no idea how to post it here. Good job I can solder
That’s great! It’s always such a satisfying feeling when you’re able to repair a light by your own hands.
It is still a good idea to watch out for any odd flickering/ramping behaviour that could be indicative of a failing switch, though.
Historically it seems the EDC18 has had its share of switch issues (my first and replacement light both did to some degree).
Thanks guys, I’ll be sure to keep an eye on that switch. How easy is it to swap out should it fail and are parts available ?
