Just received the latest version of the Lumintop Frog light together with a 10440 (generic) cell.
The light works with the supplied generic 10440 (blue sleeve) cell. However the light doesn’t work with a Vapcell 10440 (light green sleeve) cell I already have!? Both cells are fully charged.
Whenever I install the Vapcell 10440 cell and screw the light head down onto the 10440 body I hear and feel a slight “scrunching” sound as though the tail spring is being really compressed(?)
I measured the respective cell dimensions as -
generic cell diameter - 10.2 mm, and 44.7 mm long (to the top of the button on the cell)
Vapcell cell diameter - 10.2 mm, and 45.1 mm long (to the top of the button on the cell)
So the Vapcell cell is 0.4 mm longer due to a slightly higher button top on this cell. It can be seen visually that this cell button top is higher than that of the generic cell.
Anyway, the Frog light doesn’t work with the Vapcell cell for whatever reason. I wouldn’t have thought the slightly longer cell would been an issue, but it seems to be an issue after all?
Anyone else having issues with cells not working in their Frog light?
Suggested alternative known working 10440 cells for use with the Frog?
Possibly the head not making contact with the body because cell too long. Does the tail unscrew? Could try the vapcell in the light with the tail off, then bridge the end of the cell and the tube, should work to confirm it’s the length and not something weird like the button diameter too large.
Yes, I suspected the button top Vapcell was a bit too long which prevented the body tube from screwing fully down onto the head to complete electrical contact. The hint was the scrunching sound from the tail spring which suggested the spring was being overly compressed.
Upon confirmation that flat top cells do work, I have just ordered some flat top Vapcell cells. Thanks!
Issue should be resolved once I receive the flat top cells.
