Lumintop MACH.Knockoff XHP50.2

Hi,

This may be old news but I didn’t really know anything about this light until a month ago. I got it for $165 instead of $229 or something on other websites.

It’s a beautiful looking light and as long as it’s bright, reliable and durable, that’s all that matters.
I wouldn’t have known this if it wasn’t for the reviewer of this light, the same guy that did a lengthy video for Anduril 2. He does a great job. He pointed out the discrepancy in the manual for the identification of the LED. And just by his eye he could tell it was a knockoff XHP50.2 . In one part of the manual they call it HP50. My first thought was maybe a typo. But when you look at the Led as he pointed out there’s no doubt that it’s a bootleg LED..

So I looked at my Q8 and my FT02S which have XHP50.2 in them and you could tell the difference. There’s a little black dot in the corner of each LED I don’t know what it is but the knockoff does not have that.

First five photos are of the MACH.

Next is FT02S

Now the Q8

Thx :flashlight::flashlight::flashlight: :germany: :italy:

For the silver Mach 4695 they don’t claim they are XHP50.2 wherever I’ve looked so far. The max output is lower as well (23000lm vs 26000lm)

In case you’re wondering what the silver battery next to the Lumintop 46950 is, it’s a Reliance RS50 21700 5000mAh Tabless cell.
I learned a lot from mooch. I have about 15 Tabless cells.
These four 21700 , 5000mAh Cells are pretty equal but he says that the Tenpower 50GX is the best one, Ever so slightly.I have 7 of those. Just bought the RS50 to test it out.

Tenpower 50GX
Eve 50PL
Ampace JP50P1
Reliance RS50

Maybe you’re right and the guy who reviewed it is wrong. Here’s a photo of my user manual. And the video if you want to watch it
.

To save you time, He talks about the LED at the 9 minute 30 second mark. He says on the website they advertise it as XHP50. And he goes on from there saying how it is misleading.

Note the product pages are for the green and black versions. See example product offerings from lumintop on alie:

And green - https://pl.aliexpress.com/item/1005006136594468.html

And directly from lumintop - Lumintop® Mach4695 Super Bright 26000LM Flashlight with Fan-Cooling – Lumintop Official Online Store

Not saying they are clear and fair about it just that for the silver model I didn’t find info about it using actual cree LEDs contrary to the black/green versions

I don’t see anywhere on the Lumintop website where they mention what led is in the silver.
I did notice that the spring sale is selling a $30 less than what I paid for it on Allie. There’s so many advertisements on that website. I could have missed it but I looked three times. For the green one and the other one it’s clear that they advertise it as XHP50. I’m not going to buy one of the green ones, however I’d be interested in seeing ii up close if it is actually an XHP50.
Have to get moving have a good day

1 Thank

It looks like the 26,000 Lumen version does have XHP50 LED’s. That black Speck is there ..My guess it would be a bond wire. Then again, that’s just a photo it’s not actually in my hand. There’s deception everywhere! Go on a singles website lol lol

If you don’t know what the “little back dot” is, how do you know the Q8 & FT02S don’t have counterfeit LEDs? Maybe these lights have counterfeit resisters, or MCU, or anything at all.

Why are you always trying to stir up controversy as you’ve done so many times, under so many usernames over the past decade and a half?

For the record, that dot is actually a square, and it’s placed there to denote the LED’s polarity for correct reflow orientation.

So there’s a bit of useful information for those who might care, otherwise, who gives a rip!

I don’t know much about these newish 46950 batteries. I should have done more research for the spare that I bought from Eve The bottom and the top look different than the Lumintop battery that came with a light

You think it will work before I find out when it arrives next week?

I have pictures of the Lumen top battery a few post upwards.

Here is the best picture where you can see the top better.

I moved the Lumintop batteries down here so you don’t have to scroll up so much.and the Eve.

By the looks of it I don’t think it’s going to work. I don’t want anything to do with proprietary battery packs. Or proprietary batteries. It appears that this is a custom-made battery by Lumintop ,yet I don’t see it on their website.

It doesn’t look very custom to me. Those 46950 batteries are not much different. The central contact is positive with a transparent insulating ring around it while the outer ring and the back of the battery is negative.
What Lumintop did with their battery is simply changing the battery wrap, adding an insulator at the back end and a black insulator ring around the positive contact on the front end. What the black insulator ring does is to prevent a metal object from touching both contacts and creating a short circuit.
To achieve some additional short circuit safety like Lumintop did just use some Kapton tape or some insulating tape to cover the exposed metal at the back end and a thin circle around the positive contact at the front end. I have this type of battery and did exactly that.

That sounds quite descriptive and a little complicated for not being custom. So the top is positive and negative. I knew that by not only looking at it but when I did a voltage check.

With that being the case the bottom of the battery does not do anything. the tube has no spring or anything in it so all the contact is from the top. I do not believe that is how the eve battery is constructed. I could be wrong but I don’t believe the top of that one is positive and negative. I believe the bottom to be negative like most batteries were used to.

I have a few 46950 batteries and all of them have the positive and negative contact at the top. If you take a look at the driver the negative does not pass through the flashlight body like with all other batteries but there is an outer ring for negative and a central spring for positive.
I also have a Liitokala 46950 battery where the back end is negative, too.

Anyone know who makes the Astrolux 49650 batteries?
