Which of the two lights makes the better all around edc pocket flashlight??? And how do these compare to the aofirn sp36 pro?? Is there a big jump in light output from the sofirn to one kf the other two lights?? Not that ill order one i kind of wanna jus wait til the sofirn quits working which its been a tank so dar and ive had it about a year and a half and have carried it in my front pocket every day and is def at the limits lf a pocket flashlight lol
Neither, but if you’re limiting yourself to those two the Imalent at least has a replaceable battery.
Well then what light would you recommend instead of these two that would be an upgrade from the sofirn sp36 pro and is still pocketable?? I mean i saw the wuben x1 but j aint got $200 to burn on one and then i thought maybe the tm12k but its a good bit pricier as well. Ill honestly probably just wait until my sp36 pro kicks the bucket who knows it could last me many more years i love the thing i dknt know jus want a new toy mostly i live in town so i xant really use much more light than 8000 lumen anyways.
I don’t own either light, but from looking at the pictures:
The Imalent MS03
- brighter - rated for 13k and reviewed at 12k lumens. Compared to the Moonbox which is rated at 10k (I didn’t find a review testing the output for the Moonbox).
- replaceable battery
- Metal body is probably more durable than Moonbox’ plastic body.
The Lumintop Moonbox
- Flat shape should be much more comfortable for EDC carry.
- Digital Display
- Currently on sale for $76 at Lumintop website. That’s nearly $50 cheaper than the Imalent.
For the size-range of relatively large floody light you’re looking at, I think the best choice is probably the Wuben X1. With it’s active cooling it can sustain thousands of lumens for the duration of its battery life. None of the other lights can do that.
However, “EDC” refers to “EveryDay Carry”… meaning what you have on you at all times. Most people don’t EDC lights in this size range as they are quite big and heavy to carry around all the time. Much more common are single 18650, 18350 or 14500 lights. They won’t produce as much light, but still usually good enough.
Also for people want an EDC light for illuminating stuff far in the distance it may be better to purchase a light with a tight hotspot and lower lumens rather than a brighter, but floodier light.
Suggestion: If you want something to wow your friends with very brief bursts of high lumens, consider the Nitecore EDC29.
- It has a very flat shape that can fit in a pants pocket, much easier than any of these other lights.
- Despite being rated at just 6500 lumens, reviews have measured its max output at almost 10k lumens.
- It also has a relatively throwy beam so the hotspot should be brighter than some of these other floodier lights.
- Price is about the same as the Imalent MS03.
- Good interface
- Digital display
- However, be aware that it is not waterproof.
Yeah i know im more tolerable of size than most but i def xant go any bigger… i dknt know ima keep doing some reading seeing what i can find what to get i may jus say screw it and keep rocking my sp36 pro bc chances are im not gonna gain all that much bc most of these pocketable lights can only handle turbo for mere seconds anyways and i do love the sp36 pro jus would love to have a 10K+ lumen pocketable light i guess itll prolly come down to whether j come across a super good deal for anh onenof these flashlights talked about above gonna read more on the tm12k bc i seen it tested and it does pretty much wha tv it says and looks to be a lil easier to carry than this sofirn more pocket friendly shape to the light which is the only reason i even considered the moonbox
The Moonbox is way too floody compared to the SP36 Pro, I’d rather rock the SP36 Pro despite being thicker.
Oh dang really??! Well heck, the more i think about it the more im convinced i should jus keep rocking my sp36 pro until it stops working. I could upgrade to some better aftermarket 18650 batteries and my sp36pro would prolly end up being enough extra light to satisfy me i can use the old vatgeries for my vape anyways so i think ima jus spend my money on a knife lol
The much better Nitecore TM12K is my pick. However, Speras makes one similar (about half the output though).
