Lumintop ODF30C Positive Terminal no spring?

I purchased the ODF30C thinking they did away with the solid negative terminal in the tail cap and they did, but to my surprise, they have that solid terminal now at the positive end instead of a spring. It seems to put a lot of pressure on the batteries and dents them. Is there any reason they did this instead of using a spring?

Nobody thinks not having a spring at the positive end of the ODF30C is a bad idea?

It is a bad idea.

Electrically, it is the best bet to get the highest current out a cell at the lowest voltage drop possible.

Mechanically, it is a bad idea just to use a small button. One fall the and the positive terminal could collapse.

It also restricts the types of cells you can use inside of a light.

The problem is most companies don’t want to spend the additional money to design and make a high current spring, and don’t even think about it.

This could be a good case to test your new springs if we use two of them? It's a great little light. Just about everyone I showed it to today wanted it, but I prefer having springs on both ends.

I wish lumintop use spring on the negative contact point… look what happened to my odf30. I have to bend the tab to work for turbo mode… now it is broken.

I am not the only one who have problem with turbo mode. Other People from Facebook report about the turbo mode problem too.

No, they just switched the brass plate from the negative terminal to the positive terminal on the newer model.

A lot of flashlights only use a spring in the tailcap.

Only high end lights use springs on both ends to ensure constant contact during vibration and also to improve drop resistance.

The two sided springs are not done for more compatibility with different length batteries, if that was the case they would just put a slightly longer spring in the tailcap.
