lumintop SD Mini - fully charged 18650 battery drains within 24 hrs

Hi fellas

Am new here, got a Lumintop SD mini in July last year and it worked fine until last week. Once I charged it to full capacity, it’s power drains off in 24 hours time. Tried it again yesterday and the same happened.

Any ideas? Remedy?

What battery and charger? Did you confirm it was actually charged with a DMM?

Not saying it’s not possible but I’d suspect the battery / charger before the Olight.

Hello, battery is a local OEM, the Lumintop SD mini has a USB charging port.

It just occurred to me that I should also mention that in the said period, I only charged the battery 3 times.

There was a SD mini that I gave to a friend, worked fine for months and then came back with a completely dead battery, 0 V (an LG). I gave him a new battery with the advise to lockout the light after use by twisting the tail off a bit. I never investigated what precisely happened but it could be the same thing.

Do you, or someone you know, have a DMM that can measure down to micro amps? Off current (parasitic drain) is pretty easy to measure if you have a meter and know how to use it. I suspect the results would be enlightening.

I don’t have a DMM nor do I know anyone who may have one.

Currently I am using the lockout method and making do.

Grab a couple of cr123a cells and try. If they go flat at least you know its not your battery and you indeed have a parasitic drain problem.
