Also the low frequency PWM… So unnecessary…
Both seem to suggest they use way to large capacitors by default…
…and it suggests they are deaf to feedback…

Richard (RMM) has “shown me the light” pertaining e-switch’s…a reversible UI that allows you to back into Turbo from Off with a long press (about a half second), a short press goes forward into Off. Or a soft press into moon mode can then be long pressed backwards to Off, without trashing your eyesight going through modes to cycle back to Off. Love it! That simple but useful feature is ruining clickies for me! lol

I agree these new drivers designed here and now being sold at MtnElectronics are the cat’s meow and I will be making heavy use of these, this is a huge step in getting closer to the proverbial perfect light, I could not be happier about this development.
Here are a few ideas that I would consider getting even closer to that goal, mind you these are only some of my personal desires and are not intended to be all inclusive for everyone.
The perfect light would have a totally controllable and predictable user interface, moonlight mode is a must, would have field replaceable parts preferably carried on board, would have the ability to house more than one battery while using only one at a time, would be designed modular so that the head, extra battery tube etc. can be swapped out to increase run time, desired beam pattern switch location etc., would have the ability to use a multitude of different batteries including NI-MH and alkaline, would have an accurate on board wall or usb charger, would have the ability to be charged via an external solar panel, would have a tiny on-board voltmeter only accessible on demand so as not to consume excess power, would be waterproof not just water resistant, would be as light weight as possible, and would be as small as possible and still incorporate the above characteristics.
I’m sure there are other features that I have thought of in the quest, however these are the more prominent features that are not normally considered. Are these necessary? No. But are multiple lights that are exactly alike necessary either? No. But many of us have them.

Welcome from South Texas! With all the law enforcement on the border, I’d think there are a number of members… at least lurkers
On the border at night, if you are out using/testing a light, that hovering, unlit helicopter sometimes sounds like it is drawing closer. I like to explore local trails after the sun goes down!
I’m sure your right, I would certainly have the best light I could come up with if I were in their shoes.
