Got mine today as well. The display is very readable even at a shallow angle when the backlight is on, but when it’s off, you can barely see anything. I wish it could leave the backlight on constantly or only go 50% rather than completely dark. I also got the cheaper LII-S4 and it’s not battery polarity sensitive, while this one is.

Got mine! I like it. I didn’t know about the negative display but it’s not a dealbreaker.

A small resistor should fix that. I’ve seen people do it on chargers before. Place it between the backlight FET’s drain and source. When the charger commands the back light on you have full brightness, when it doesn’t you have partial brightness (depending on resistor value).

I am, but I was foiled by the brand misspelling thing… Liitokala, Liitokaala, Liiitokala, LittoKala, etc. I found the 500S on the “Littokaala” now. Thanks!

I think I might go for the 6 bay one, as I prefer tactile buttons instead of touch-sensitive ones.

The only 500S coupon I’m seeing on his website is the one that he publicly stated in the original post of this thread, and it has been dead for quite some time now.

Keep in mind the 500S does discharge testing, while the S6 I presume like the S4, only charges batteries.

It seems silly to add this, but I meant to say it a month ago . I found it somewhat humorous that LiitoKala released a Lii-500S charger that will discharge cells just weeks after I purchased the old Lii-500 that doesn’t. I needed that feature, spent many months searching for a cheap charger with a discharge mode, and would have paid the few dollars extra to get it.

Fast Test on the old charger is simply useless; no idea what it could be good for. Oh well . That’s how it usually goes and glad that they replaced that function with a useful one on the new version.

I’m not a fan of the new display, though it seems to be a trend with some Chinese companies lately to use reverse LCD’s. It doesn’t seem too bad in the photos, though.

Hmmmm… Like Pete7874 said above, if you truly found a Lii 500 that does not have the discharge test function; it is an absolute first.

All Lii 500’s have the Discharge Test function. It is the ‘NOR’ Test.

The ‘FAST Test’ you mentioned above shows how many mA the cell accepts during charging.

The ‘NOR Test’ is more accurate showing true battery capacity.

Yeah it’s a bit of a shame.
They have 2 new chargers, the 500S and the S6
500S has Test and Discharge modes but no support for LiFePO4
S6 has support for LiFePO4 but no Test and Discharge modes.
A combination of both chargers would have been ideal.

Yes, that was already posted in a different thread some time ago.
Hold any of the slot 1-4 buttons for a few seconds and the backlight stays on.

No 21700 support?

Rechargeable battery specifications: 26650,21700,18650,18350, 20650,14500, AA, AAA, etc.

When they write that 21700 are supported they mean just the flat top ones. In fact, often you read IMR 21700 (which means flat top). But the IMR 21700 is supported by many old chargers! In my old XTar VC Dragon a flat top 21700 fits wonderfully. But if you want to be sure to charge any 21700, then you need bays 77mm long (the Nitecore NL 21700 button top is 76,9mm long)
Also, sometimes even the IMR needs a button top. For example, the new Lumintop GT94X works with IMR 21700 button top.
