Very well made lights! Love the mimmicked shape of the reflector in the base of the fins, and the attention to detail… the notches beside the name are actually drilled holes, these go way up close to the top of the head and you can see them show up in the bottom of the fins near the top, the lower fins are deep enough that the cut goes through the hole but the shallower fins up top show the hole. Interesting and a neat detail. Unfortunately these holes have some semi sharp edges around the bottom of the head where the finger tends to fall when gripping the light. Not a big deal to me but I’m sure it will be for others.

The SST-40 uses a different driver altogether, different color PCB and made differently. The 50.2 variant uses a Nightwatch board with 8 7135 chips on the spring side. I found the reflector to sit a bit too high on the sliced and diced 50.2, used a thinner centering ring and the “donut hole” disappeared almost entirely. YMMV

I have the sibling Nightwatch and like the de-domed SST-40 in it, but dislike the H-L UI. This one that arrived today has a L-H UI while the 50.2 is (to me) backwards with H-L again. I’ll get some numbers on these tomorrow and see how they perform but they do seem to manage heat well, will see what they do with the heat turned up…
