Mag85 with 3x32650 cells?

I have an old mag85 (black bear lights version) that runs on standard 9x aa nimh.
Can i run this on 3x32650 li-ion cells?
1- Will they flash the bulb fresh off charger? (I only have about 5 bulbs and they no longer make em)

2- if I go unprotected, can I safly run down until light starts to dim?

3- Does shortening the tail spring cause corrosion/resistance problems?

2.DO NOT use unprotected! This sucker can drain your cells beyond repair
3.shortening spring will cause less resistance and increase of current amps

Generally, you can use 32650 only if you have AW softstart or AlanB regulator

Sorry I throw the light out after doing lots of research and wasting time. This thing is just impractical due to no bulbs available, annoying overcharge w/ nimh.
Best thing I ever did was turf it in the bin. Just an awful waste of my time as every option has major cons. Its a toy.
