Making your wifi router project directional wifi using a reflector?

Please bear with my ramblings, it’s 4am and I’ve just had a thought.

WiFi routers usually have those mini antennas which project a WiFi signal in 360 degrees, or in other words everywhere. What if I put a reflector on the antenna, so instead of an emitter there is an antenna in the middle. Would it actually reflect the WiFi signal or is this pointless.
When I wake up tomorrow I will test this with the WiFi analyser app on my phone.

I’ve heard of signal boosters made from aluminium cans before but I don’t know how directional it is. Would be interesting to hear your findings!

You need to connect Yagi antenna.

This link has all the templates for the antenna reflector you are thinking about.

^ Yep, nice & easy to try out.
I’d rather have 802.11ac beamforming though.

Update:
It doesn’t work, and I tried the parabolic reflector made out of aluminium foil. doesn’t work

are you using the aluminum foil reflector as a hat now?
