Yesterday I received the last pieces for my mod
From CRX arrived a GITD gasket and a GITD tube (along with other stuff ) and as soon as I got them I installed them

The installation took me a while because the optics were not fitting the MCPCB very well, so I has to pull the MCPCB up, install the optic + gasket, and then “unglue” the driver to pull the wires down again. Then I mounted the head and glued the driver again

I also installed the GITD tube in the holster adding an extra piece of thinner “paracord” in 2 empty holes. I opted to put it in that place because it will help me on locating the holster if needed.

Later I will try to take some photos of the all “modding” set But for now…enjoy

The process of modding the Amutorch VG10 is now finalized!

What can I say?
It turned out better than I could have thought!
In the beginning I had the intention to modify a flashlight, and then I ended up modding it and “building” some other stuff creating a set.
Some important points from this process where I:

used several tools I had used before and bought new ones and learned how to use them;
borrowed my father’s help and tools in one occasion;
worked with materials I never used before, specially leather and waxed thread;
made some “stitchery” in MtnDon’s words (sewing and stitching) to make the flashlight sleeve;
made a copper bead;
installed a tritium vial for the 1st time;
recycled an old belt to make a holster;
recurred to BLF members as suppliers of materials for the mod;
had to improvise to get the job done;
*…had fun and learned

This is it! It’s done now

Now, some photos of the flashlight, the wood support and the holster, and also the beam and the glowing parts

Beam Profile!

Unfortunately I wasn’t able to test it outside, so here are some inside beamshots! (WB 5000K)

To make these beamshots I temporarily configured the flashlight on the mode 8 (8 levels) + moonlight, so below you have 9 beamshots showing the progression of luminosity.
The battery used was a not fully charged Sony VTC6 3000mAh, unprotected.

With a luxmeter, just to show the evolution

In the wood support Note the orangish/reddish glow that comes out of the wood support after the light is shut off

The glowing on the light and the holster. Despite dim, if compared to a green one, the tritium vial is quite nice and in pitch black environment helps to find the flashlight, which is the its main purpose

Well, about the odd looks…I took those photos in my lunch break in the parking lot of my workplace, outside. My girlfriend was with me, so I guess that it helped avoiding the odd looks a little bit
She actually gave me some ideas and took the photo with the holster on my jeans
Except for my friends that probably thought I was crazy… Well…maybe not , as they know me for some years now

Well, as I said above, when the mod is “simple” (although with many ‘small’ things), the photos need to fill the eyes
I am sure that you and the other modders (and builders) are capable and will do much better than what I did!

However, I am proud of it, I love the final result and I tried to do it (the mod and the thread) mostly as an experience and not so much as part of the “contest”.

It was like making the review of a flashlight, but in many phases, and learning a lot during the process

I am also looking to the lumens data and beam on yours :smiling_imp:

I tried to show precisely that, my process and learning. Others’ would be different, but this was the possible way for me

About the beamshots, hopefully tonight I will take some outdoor photos and I’ll post them later!

I haven’t tried outdoor so I may be surprised as well!
The beam and the tint of these leds are probably the best or second best in my lights! (Wuben TO50R is probably the best )

So, the mod was finished, but the thread is not! And an important thing was missing, if you know my style!

The night beamshots were missing, and…that’s what I’ll show below

I must say one thing: I got surprised myself!! :o
The beam and tint of this flashlight is absolutely gorgeaus! It is possible that the photos don’t actually show how it looks in real “life”!

Floody but has a longe range, and the tint…simply perfect! I don’t miss High CRI leds when using Luxeon V Leds and this flashlight has only proven that even more! It is soft and smooth to the eyes, very pleasant even when the light is on full power!

It really makes me happy to have this final result!
