Mecarmy seems to have a new flashlight coming out very soon that has 16 leds I believe xpg. It is rechargeable in the body via USB. It is on their Facebook page if someone can share the picture I can’t get it to upload sorry. I would like to know more looks pretty amazing.
That’ll easily fit in anyone’s pants pockets.
Nice. Does it have a name yet?
I don’t know if they have a name yet, but it looks like a 26650 maybe so PT26?
Where did you see this? I can’t find anything. The light in the picture doesn’t really look like a bunch of TIR’s under the glass Like Mec usually does
wow
How much lumens OTF. Any clue? What kind of emitters?
Me want, me want, me want!!!
Wow.
I can honestly say I’ve never seen anything like that before.
I don’t think I like the aesthetics. I wish they had used larger diameter optics
I don’t get it… All that wasted space… They used the same tiny optics from the PT series but in a much larger array, for what, easier Mcpcb design? They could have achieved the same with a head 50% smaller by moving everything closer like this:
4S4P setup still possible but the MCPCB would require a bit more engineering
Probably helps with heat dissipation. Just a guess.
Yep, heat dissipation.
I’m guessing around 3000 to 4000 lumens.
They gonna need to do better than that. More like 7000-9000 lumens.
My impression too. What’s with all the wasted space on the optic? Looks like they used less than half the available surface area … what a waste! :person_facepalming:
If the only reason they did this was heat dissipation, I’d rather they just used a longer and narrower head with more heatsink fins. Or used a wide head, but made it slightly longer to allow for deeper TIR reflectors which would have benefited from the extra surface area.
It will be a shame if it has less than 5000 lumens, but given the battery situation, that seems very likely.
If it is xpg-2’s probably getting about 300 lumens per led. So I would say 5000 is very possible, and feasible. It looks really small also. I want to see dimensions and battery type.
I was chatting with MecArmy recently, and this light - their PT60 - came up. They shared a preliminary spec with me.
It uses a battery pack of 4x18650, in 2S2P. It is, like most MecArmy lights, USB rechargeable (using 3 USB ports) and has accurate battery capacity indicators. It can also be used as a USB powerbank.
Dimensions are: Length: 121.9mm/ 4.8in; Head diameter: 75mm/ 2.95in Body diameter: 52mm/ 2.05in; Weight: 424g/ 14.96oz (excluding battery pack)
As a few folks have deduced, the 16x XP-G2 led configuration is to reduce heat - helped, no doubt, by the copper and gold plated circuitry
Output is an impressive 9,000lm.
A very interesting light.
Wow!!! Price range?
