Memorial Day Are you a Vet ?

Have a Great Memorial Day

Please remember Memorial Day isn't all about the BBQ, or the start of summer.

Memorial Day is for the Vets and the Families, that have served our country.

What Service Branch are represented here on BLF ?

THANK YOU for your SERVICE !

Anybody remember the EC-121 Connie?

I’ve never been too concerned about this myself, but I saw something the other day about it, so I thought maybe to somebody it would be important. So, here goes. Memorial day is not a day to thank the vets. It is a day to remember those who have given their lives for their country. It’s the day to honor the fallen. Veterans day is the day to thank vets. I wanted to make sure this is really true, so I looked it up and found this:

Happy Memorial Day to everyone! Be safe, and do take time to think about those who have died protecting your rights and freedoms!

Memorial Day

THE MUFFLED drum’s sad roll has beat The soldier’s last tattoo; No more on Life’s parade shall meet That brave and fallen few. On Fame’s eternal camping-ground 5 Their silent tents are spread, And Glory guards, with solemn round, The bivouac of the dead.

Bivouac Of The Dead, by Theodore O’Hara

Memorial Day, which is observed on the last Monday of May, commemorates the men and women who died while in the military service. In observance of the holiday, many people visit cemeteries and memorials, and volunteers often place American flags on each grave site at national cemeteries. A national moment of remembrance takes place at 3:00 p.m. local time.

DavidEF is right of course. Over a million men and women have died in service to country, and the number continues to grow.

Navy, my neighbor who lives 2 houses down. His name is Tony. He was on the Arizona when Pearl Harbor was bombed. He walks dogs everyday and is very healthy. He's a great guy and feel honored to help him when he has computer problems or needs any kind of assistance. Awesome guy, he and his wife. He came over a few nights ago to visit and when I walked him out I lit up our walkway with my level II M6 from Rich's shop. He was quite impressed when he witnessed how much light could come out of this little coke can sized flashlight.

He and his friends make appearances to schools and stuff on Memorial Day.

Another from the USAF here.

Special Tactics and Rescue Service, Alpha team.

(Just kidding.)

For everyone that is a Veteran, thank you for your service! :)

USAF… 80s, peacetime… it was money for college.
