As I got my Small Sun ZY-T13 through yesterday I thought I’d see how it compared to the other “throwy” lights in my collection.
I had a go outside and quite impressed, nice big hot spot and lots of bright spill and it looked like it threw well, but wasn’t convinced it was really out throwing my other lights.
The lights under test are:
-Small Sun ZY-T13 T6 (2x18650)
-Tesco CREE 2D (XP-E?) (budget light any Brit my come across in their local Tesco’s for £15)
-MagLite 6D running UCL and a TTS (The Torch Site) 180 lumen XP-E drop in
-MagLite 3D running a TTS 200 lumen XP-G drop in and a DX aspheric lens

Conclusion
I don’t have a Lux meter, but I’d say looking at the exposures that they are all putting out quite a similar lux reading. The Small Sun has the brightest spill and the biggest hot spot and in real world use I think the aspheric Mag actually throws the furthest.
The Tesco CREE is pretty handy for the money and availability in the UK.
I’ll try and get some proper outdoor beam shots later this week and up date this thread.
