Mod my old light ???

I have an Underwater Kinetics 4AA eLED light, purchased in 1994 or so. It is compact and handy, but never has been what you’d call really bright. Reasonably good at backyard distances, though. It has an external switch that makes contact with the LED module with a small piece of metal.

The LED module itself measures .950 in. diameter, and is 1.107 in. high. It uses an emitter that looks like a little inverted pyramid (Lambertian?) mounted inside a metal ring reflector.

Are there drop-in modules that could be used to increase the output? The light is plastic, so heat/dissipation would seem to be a problem.

Or, would I be ahead just to buy a Streamlight Propolymer 4AA led light, which they have upgraded to 100 lumens output, or a Fenix E 40, and forget modding my old light?

Sorry, no pixes to illustrate.

Thanks

If you can’t buy what you want, mod what you have.
