Hello I just got a new light a 7x xml 3x 26650 cell light and I installed the big KD driver but I am sadly having a problem… The light won’t turn on if it’s on high. It will blink and be very bright for a split second then it shuts off if the driver is in any other mode it works as normal. Wondering if anyone else has experienced this and has a solution?
A problem I am thinking may be with my batteries I just got them to they aren’t fully charged I am going to charge them and report if it changes anything. Could this even cause this issue? Or could it possibly be the protection kicking in on the batteries (they are protected cells) if this is the case is there a way around? I’m not certain how the protection works if it’s a current surge issue could I install a capacitor to fix the issue?
Thanks for any help guys if you need any other info to help me figure it out let me know!
I don’t have to remove the tail cap turning it off then on resets them but I don’t have a reliable way to switch modes on the driver so it does the same then when I turn it off> on > blink> off because it’s still on high.
No Imr cells but I may jut buy some after this. As far a dc a half bump does the same thing blink> off I took the switch apart too because I thought that may have been an issue it’s a simple physical switch either makes contact or doesn’t there’s no in between… thanks for the help ! I’m sure we will get to the bottom of this =p
hmm… I guess you didn’t read much about those “beast” drivers… it is so unreliable, just word of advice, *DONT USE *it for more than 15 mins on HIGH or it will toast the driver and there goes your $20
After gone through 4 KD’s “beast” drivers I gave up,… but if you just need to wow non flashaholics friends for few seconds at a time… then this is for you
Ok batteries all are charged now and it works as normal silly me being impatient. I have read about that “issue” with the beast driver( not everyone has this problem probably heat related), these lights are mostly toys/fun for me to be honest Im never sure when I would have to have 15 minutes of solid on time for the “UNBRIDLED POWER OF THE SUN!!!” setting anyways low is bright enough for most uses on this driver. So it was definitely the battery protection kicking in good to know that’s how it works in some cases as It was unexpected. Back to the fun!
