Modding a Courui D01. Peculiar results.

I was a bit too eager to start my D01 mod earlier this week. I forgot to test the assembled driver before installing.

Anyway, pics:

So I can’t wrap my head around these readings I’m getting… Checking continuity between the negative lead and literally any other point besides the solder joint at the negative position on the FET driver, yields null.

In contrast, checking continuity between the positive lead and literally any point shows continuity. Positive lead and opposite side ground ring? Yep. Pos and copper round? Yep. Pos and supporting copper legs? Yep.

I didn’t show the underside of the FET, but I’ve checked it many times. The support structure is just barely attached. I had a jumper from the underside FET pos through the original board contacting the copper round, but I disconnected that to make sure that wasn’t the issue.

My next step is to pop the FET off. Then the round if it’s not the FET… Won’t have access to it for about a week though.

In the mean time, any ideas what could cause those readings?

I'd remove the BLF driver & copper legs, then sand the face of the old driver to get rid of the excess solder from the old components.

There's also the small trace that's visible between the Ground & Positive ring on the battery side - it looks close to the copper round in a couple of spots?

If you have a week or so, you could also consider ordering Matt's contact board from OSH Park.
