Modifying Surefire

As you all know, Surefire is wedded to the idea of selling primary CR123 batteries for their lights. Do you know of anyone who has bored out a Surefire successfully? My wife gave me a Fury for Christmas last year and I would like to convert it to 18650 battery. I also have an old E2e with an LED head. So, first is it possible to ream out the battery compartment sufficiently? Secondly if it is, would it be safe?

Here is somthing about topic:

You could also use a 16650.

I’ve “hand bored” (aka drilled with a 3/4” step-bit) many surefire P60 style lights, the only one to ever go wrong was a C2. I prefer to use solarforce bodies (with surefire head’s and tail’s) now days, I like everything about them better (other than the ano type but they’re work lights, they’re supposed to be banged up)

I ordered an L2C last week, cant wait! (sorry, just had to brag, probably the first P60 I’ve ever been really excited about)

Pretty sure Overready.com offers the boring service, if you want to pony up for it

Great! I found some protected Panasonic 16650’s at the above site. Looks lots easier than boring these. Any brighter heads for E2e

These hosts are about as close to Surefire level build as you will find, in fact some users say they’re better.

Also Precisionworks.
