i was repairing a short and was trying my third driver... well guess what... after struggling and giving up, i did have a spare one in the drawer. (since i destroyed the first one trying to figure it out)
put a NEW q5 and a NEW driver in, pressed it all together, and guess what, THE NEW ONE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM!
thats when i realized what happened. Apparently when using the tools, i bent the ALUMINUM PILL, so that its OUT OF ROUND
is there anyway to salvage these pills? if not this is a waste of 20 bux!!!!
but not impossible. Take two pieces of relatively soft wood. One underneath and one on top and try to hammer gently on the wood on top. I once managed to rectify the thread of an aluminium hydraulic fitting this way. If the tread is slightly damaged it can be corrected with a fine triangled file. Needs a good eye for to do it.
