Hey, I own a Convoy c8 flashlight.
I’m looking for a optical glass/any mod that can make it more focused to throw further.
I couldn’t find any 41.7mm optical glass.
This anti-reflective lens will help a little. I’m assuming you have some sort of XM-L emitter; if you want a dramatic difference in throw, replace it with a dedomed XP-G2.
I really like the xml bright light, I just could use bit more focused one, I mean narrower beam.
Throw is usually dictated by led size vs reflector size. So a smaller led will give a tighter focus and usually more throw. Down side is, smaller LEDs produce less lemens. So sometimes you just change the beam profile more than gain loads of throw. But it all depends on the output and drive current.
So, an XP-G2 or XP-E2 led in a C8 will throw further than an XM-L2. But with a smaller hot spot and less bright spill.
Another option is you can de-dome an LED. This will cause a tint shift but will make the beam more focused. And for the most throw you can combine smaller LEDs and de-doming.
A good driver will also help as it will increase the output of any given LED.
So I can’t find any 42mm “cup” glass?
I’m not sure what you mean by cup glass. Unless you mean aspheric lens. In wishing case it is possible, but you’d be better off just buying a Zoomy light that already has one.
