My initial plan was to build a XML2 into a convoy C8 host, but seeing how this XHP70 emitter is so big and the host its sitting in convoy M1 the beam pattern is just not that cool so I am going to try this: XHP70 in a Convoy C8 smooth reflector (I have a LOP on the way) and XML2 in the M1. Both of the hosts have removable pills. I guess if anyone has added the beast to teh c8 post up some pics or something
light is built and the beam profile is much much nicer
pics to follow tonight
Did you have to modify the reflector opening?
Nope

Got a bigger picture or a link to one?
:edit:
never mind. Just right click and open image in new tab/window to go to photobucket page
Looks good! waiting for beamshots…
this makes me want to mod a L4 with xhp70 and led4power’s new ld2 driver
If you don't like the beam in an M1 you're probably going to like it even less in a C8. Yeah, I still prefer the MT-G2 in almost every light (with the exception of one of the monster 90mm faceted reflector lights
).

Notice the little black circle on the wall? Thats the XHP70 footprint, i wonder if a Stipple or LOP reflector will clean that up a bit?
Did I mention how stupid bright this light is? DD Fet + XHP70 = INSANE!
If both your M1 and C8 are the older model and I remember correctly, you can use the M1 pill in the C8. If it works you can do a quick test with the XHP70 in your C8 without a lot of rebuilding.
Edit: Posted at about the same time as your beamshot, so I guess you’ve already done the swap.
good to know, however this is the new C8. thanks :)
Nice build, where did you get the host at?
Mtnelectronics
Sweet thank you
Which driver did you choose?
DD FET with Rev 1 guppy
Will read the amp draw soon
only getting 5A with 2x 18650 RED efest or 2x 18350 10A purple efest....MEH!
I want 8-9 amps!!!!!!
Be happy, you’re maxing out the led already.
5A on 7V, that’s around 35W (led spec is max 32W) you got. How long can you go on full output before the C8 starts melting?
I put one of these together recently as well. It turns out that I really don’t need a super bright light for more than about 10 minutes a day. So as long as I remember to charge it in the evening, I’m set. And as Mr. Nobody said above, this thing really is stupid bright!
How are you powering the XHP70 with 1 battery?
