Mr Beams Questions

So I saw a few months back a co. called Mr Beams that offered battery powered LED spotlights. Im looking for something simple, and they seemed like a good fit. I checked Amazon, and they had mostly good reviews. Has anyone tried them in the past, and are there any alternatives I should be a ware of?

Its not urgent, but I would like to order a spotlight thats not super bright, Id like to get it within the month, but really want to do my homework on whats out there.

Heres a link to their site

I have one out by the garbage cans on the side of my house. Good little light. I would estimate somewhere around the 150 or so claimed lumens, but its a big spot so it appears dimmer.

I bought it in December for $15 on amazon and it is still on the original batteries. The mount is pretty solid too because i don’t have it properly mounted, its just zip tied to a chain link fence.

If you are in the complete darkness and need something they are acceptable for the price they are asking. I can imagine there are better ones out there too.

Good luck!

Oh, and welcome to BLF!

They originally came as 4 x D-cells. They’ve downgraded/improved (???) them to 3D’s.
Near as I can tell they are exactly the same as Dorcy LED Motion Sensor Flood-Lite
I’ve seen both for sale in the mid-teens. I don’t know who’s copying whom or if they are re-brands of the same product, which is my suspicion.
I started with 1. I now have 4. All are on original D-cells the original going on 1+ year.
I like them for lighting up specialty areas for walking, safety, and security and being pretty easy to do so.

I have about 4 of them spread around my house and I got them from Amazon. They are fantastic little lights! I would also estimate they are about 150 lumens, very diffuse white/blueish light thats good for about a 6 foot area or so. They are made entirely of pretty sturdy plastic and they have an o-ring to seal off the battery compartment from the weather, which is nice. The sensor on them works quite well, though if there are any large branches that sway in front of the sensor it will trigger them. My recommendation is to put them somewhere away from large foliage that needs immediate light. I have one over a back gate that has a padlock on it so that whenever someone approaches it the area lights up.

For around $17ish its not a bad investment.

Thanks for the review guys. Right now its a toss up between Dorcy & Mr Beams. Anyone have experience with both?

I have also seen on Amazon that Mr.Beams has a pretty solid warranty. Anyone have any luck with that?

I should have been more clear. I have both models. Except for the change from 4 > 3 D-cells I can’t tell much difference. Maybe the Dorcy is slightly better made but that may not be true as I got them about a year apart.

Ive looked into both brands, and Im going to call both companies to see what they offer. I plan on buying bulk, and possibly as gifts for my neighbors.

Thanks again.

I spoke with a girl in customer service, and they actually have a Buy 2, Get 1 sale going on. So I purchased my 2 spotlights. I will upload pics if theyre as good as they say they are.

I tried redeeming the coupon on the site, and one time it worked, one time it didnt. They pulled down the banner, but heres the light I am looking to buy.
