+1
- Tank 007 E09 (aaa) in my Skinth L-Shield
- Fenix E11 (2mode AA) Left Front Pocket (oh and have one more in the glovebox of the car)
- Veleno Design Quantum D2 on the keyring.
The Tank 007 E09 is a nobrainer, for so little money (7,5 euro here) you have a very nice small light.
The Fenix has clicky on/off at the tail, head loose = low, head tight is high (115 lum)
I really like the Fenix, always 30 lum for me, but if needed i can whop it up. Carry it in my left front pocket of my jeans most of the time.
Quantum D2, short runtime on high, but a whopping 0 - 100 lumens….
Fenix L01
My 3 favorites:
Convoy L4 - like the mode switching button on the side, forward clicky on/off button at the back is great for momentary
Jetbeam RRT01 - super simple operation with the control ring / twist from off and adjust to correct level of light
Sunwayman D40A - the best AA cell light available if you don’t want the hassle of li-ion or rechargeables
You say you have picked up some group buy lights and haven't been impressed but don't say what they are ..Why not tell us what you've bought and not liked as that might help us
Help me... to help you
I picked up the ultrafire f13, Cree xml-t6 diving light(nocturnal clone), and cofly kx-fx7(first light).
After being on here for a better part of the month, I have learned to style away from products marked ultrafire and Cree. But I just don’t know the knock offs from the good products most of the time
- Xintd X3 Well heat optimized, strong output, universal light with very nice neutral white T6-3B.
- D40A Best 4xAA light so far, strong output, well finished CW/NW both very nice.
- Spark SF5 NW not as bright as other 1xAA/14500 lights but with beautiful white tint and nice click switch.
- Olight i3s small powerful light on IMR EFEST, well finished, nice looking.
Lots of good choices recommended, my favorites of the one’s mentioned are the Roche F6 and Fandyfire/Solarstorm Warrior. Can’t believe no one has listed the HD2010 yet, a must have.
Nitecore EC2. Tiny, throwy, long runtime, decent modes, red LED, voltage meter.
-Xintd X3 love this light feels great in the hand. great thermal design too.
-Convoy L4 probably the best c8 style light in my opinion
-ROCHE X3 another great c8 style light. Superb build quality
-ROCHE F6 my favorite edc light. I am thinking of doing one with a triple xp-g2
-ROCHE F8 my favorite pocketable tactical flashlight.
These 3 have amazing build quality at a great price.
There are lots of UlteFire branded flashlights out there that are pretty good for the money.
“UltraFire” on a flashlight doesn’t mean too much.
I don’t think many people can distinguish the clone from the clone from the original…
With UltraFire i think it’s the worst case of brand vagueness…
Many many other …Fire brands, which seem to be more consistent.
For Li-ion batteries you’re right:
Avoid ….Fire. They’re usually crap.
CREE makes the most popular power LEDs.
Most lights have a CREE emitter.
Ok.
The Sunwayman v11r.
A convoy s6 with a qlite rev a driver
Sunwayman d40a
Armytek tiara headlamp
All of these I have found for under 50
You can get the “2.0” version of the Coast HP550 at Walmart for $60.
It’s a very nice light (the version being sold at Walmart has an updated/brighter emitter).
It uses standard AA batteries, and the focusing lens works like a champ.
Review of the original/Costco version:
Coast HP550
This is almost the only light will order for friends and family that ask for something. It’s basically exactly what I would have to mod anything else to be.
I don’t have the XinTD X3 yet, but I assume the quality is similar.
I assume basically any Convoy or XinTD flashlight is a must-have.
+1 on the HD2010. I had Tom E mod mine and it rocks!
I think quality of the HD2010 is so hit and miss now, people might be reluctant to recommend them.
