My ex-brother-in-law chews tobacco.
I've never heard of snus until today.
I would imagine that it's addictive and cancer-causing, so it doesn't really appeal to me.
This is a form of dipping tobacco that does not typically result in the need for spitting.
The EU banned the sale of snus in 1992, after a 1985 World Health Organization (WHO) study concluded that “oral use of snuffs of the types used in North America and western Europe is carcinogenic to humans”, but a WHO committee on tobacco has also acknowledged the evidence is inconclusive regarding health consequences for snus consumers.
Sweden and European Free Trade Ass. (EFTA)-member Norway are exempt from this ban.
A popular movement during the run-up to the 1994 referendum for Sweden’s EU membership made exemption from the EU sale ban of snus a condition of the membership treaty.
I tried it, pretty intense stuff, winter green is brutal… ![]()

Havent smoked cigarettes for 7 years because it costs too much. but i do like a nicotine hit occasionally and snus is good for that. You cant buy it in Australia so you have to import it from sweden.

ive got the veg draw in the fridge full of it(personal use)
we can bring in 1 kilo per day from sweden to finland
we cant import it via mail though

Where I work sometimes you can smell the sulfur dioxide in the air, there are some people who will complain about cigarette smoke but stand next to the source of the sulfur dioxide. I dont understand it.
I believe the smoke from tobacco is harmful not the nicotine but i could be wrong about that.
they dont sell snus on äland as its still kind of classed as finland, i get mine from göteborg or stockholm, i was in gothenborgat new year and got my kg+ a few of us went over and i got there share also
i was reading smokefree tobacco is not as bad as toabacco that get burnt and inhaled
i smoked for some years…i gave it up and then 10 years later i use snus
i also was reading there has been so little cancourous deaths due to snus-or chew tobacco compaired to smoking tobacco
i could be wrong though
anyway it makes me happy and i can still breath quite ok
A lot of people, and I mean a lot, uses snus in my friend/family community. Being a Norwegian, snus is pretty common. I don’t use it fortunately, and some of my friends wish they never started with it in the first place. I’ve hear it’s quite hard to quit.
Not much snus here, I’ve seen it for sale once in the city’s tourist area but surely not widely available. But we’ve got the betelnut (Areca catechu). Growing everywhere and freely available. The betel nut is bitter and is chewed like tobacco used to be. The nut is wrapped in a betel pepper leaf with some lime paste and a few other ingredients, chewed and put between (red) teeth and cheek. Both the betel nut and betel pepper have a slightly stimulating effect.

Isnt khat in the mixture? In Hunan province china the locals were putting the betel nut in a redbull. Anybody who may have known was too off their face so couldnt f8nd out what it was.
Khat is a stimulant that is used mainly in Africa. Betelnut use is predominantly SouthEast Asia and some of the Pacific Islands. Yes, chewing betelnut is addictive, causes the teeth to change to deep red (google betelnut and you’ll see what I mean, not a pretty sight) and can be carcinogenic when used over a long period.
It’s popular in America, but still not as much as smoking. It’s very expensive to smoke and chew because in my state it’s taxed quite a lot. $7-8 for a pack of smokes or a can of chew that lasts you a few days if you’re a heavy user.
