Just received my New edition from Chicago X a cut down maglite running on a single 18650 cell. Well pleased with it.

Starting to get a nice little collection together now.

Top row:

Can you identify the torch directly below the silver Mag, please?

No make on it Wayne, but it’s a cheap 21 LED that runs on 3 AAA cell the switch is in the tail cap, press for momentarily or tighten the cap for permanent. Can’t even remember where it came from as had it for many years. the glowing part is just some 3M reflective tape.

The blue Maglite looks really nice, great work Chicago X!

Run it on 26650 instead, greatly increased runtime…

When I finish modding my 4D incan, xm-l u2 and 3.04 amp driver in place but cut-down still to be done, it will run on a single 26650.

Are the 26650 cells the same size as a C cell, as I was thinking of converting my C maglite to run on 2 off the 26650 cells and fitting a FUSION 36 LED POWER MODULE as all my other maglites have been converted for throw so looking to convert my C maglite to a flood light.

if i remember right, the 25500 is closer to the same size as a c cell. the 26650 is too long, and a hair too wide

Thanks Pulsar, will have to check the specs to see if 2 will fit in a C maglite.

Sadly 26650s will not fit in a C mag. C cells are around 25.2mm and 26650s are around 26.3mm.

I know this is a slightly old thread. But I wanted to throw out there that an older Mag (no C is serial number) actually WILL accommodate a 26650 with no modifications. Also, although a 2C is too short for 2x26650, a 3C is pretty much spot-on. It’s also only a little longer than a 2D (maybe an inch with the heads on both fully retracted). But unlike a 2D, it requires NO tailspring/tailcap mods - it’s pretty much ready to go ‘out of the box’. So if you want to run 2x26650 in a Mag with zero fuss, an older 3C (no C in serial number) is the way to go. It’s almost like it came from the factory specifically for that purpose.

I should also add that a newer C cell Maglite (with C in the serial number) will accept a 26650 if you enlarge the inside of the tube. This is often done with a brake hone. But some people have done it even with more improvised methods, like spinning a crumpled ball of sandpaper on the end of a long drill bit.
