So, for some time I’ve wanted to make a kit that I can just throw in the car that had anything I would need for looking for anything at night. I originally planned on getting a pelican case, but after seeing the price tag, I ended up settling for this decent plano one. It had the foam with the blocks you can tear out to make it semi form fitting for the contents. The case holds my Acebeam K70, a spare battery carrier (not pictured, but should arrive soon) an Olight SR mini-intimidator, the holsters for both, and a nitecore d4 charger with wall and car adapers. The Acebeam is for the far off stuff and the olight for the closer stuff. I am debating on getting a floodier Acebeam to keep it a bit more brand true, but I’m not sure what to get with the same kind of flood the olight has. Anywho, just wanted to show it off and see what you guys think. Any suggestions as to what I’m missing or what would be better options for the lights I have in there?
wauw this looks slick!
Very cool! I was recently looking at Pelican cases and also suffered a case of sticker-shock!
Check out “Seahorse Cases” as another alternative to Pelican. I have one for my camera gear.
They’re made in the USA and are available with different foam configurations, or without foam.
Thanks for sharing! :+1:
I think you are missing a lanyard (with those big and heavy lamps I find it helpful) and a faster charger (at least 1A for each channel) otherwise you’ll need all night to charge 4 18650. I’m also a fan of chemical lights, I’ll throw in at least a couple.
Not a big fan of lanyards, I find they usually get in my way. Probably just throw one in the case just in case. I like that idea of the chemical lights. I’ll throw a couple of glowsticks in there for good measure. I hadn’t really put much though into a faster charger. I just had the Nitecore and threw it in there. I’ll definitely look into getting a faster charger. Could make a big difference in the field. It just has to have a car adapter, though. I forgot to mention, I’ve got a bunch of Samsung 30q’s for batteries. Just need 3 more to make eleven total. Three for the olight and right for both battery carriers for the Acebeam.
Very nice kit!
A floodier option is the Meteor M43. Take the bezel off and swap the optics to wide and you have the wall of light effect.
Great kit, and the K70 is going to be tough to beat for a while. Maybe a pair of the 1A capable Lii-202 chargers and a blitzwolf car charger?
A good headlamp would round it out…. I do like my Armytek Wizard Pro V3 XHP50 in warm white… But there are plenty of good options…
Make sure you check your local laws if you have a rifle or shotgun in the vehicle. Some municipalities/agencies would put a K70 and a long gun together as a “spotlighting” kit if they see you out poking around and have a way to take game with you. Stupid, but happens…
The 10% screw it up for the rest of us with things like spotlighting…
Great set up!
Monoprice has some Pelican style hard cases with a smaller price tag.

I like what you did. I’ve been wanting to do that myself with one of the cases from Harbor Freight. I think the answer is no by looking at it, but is that case waterproof?
Not this case, no. I wish it were, but I think that’s where the price tag difference comes in to play.
I’ve thought about a meteor, but I’m holding out to see what kind of price the new manker 12led light is gonna command.
Nice setup. I’m in the process of rounding up the lights I want for my case. I would consider adding a small tube of thread grease. You never know when you may get dirt on the threads and Orinda and need to clean and reapply some grease. As someone else said maybe add a headlamp as well so you have hands free lighting if you need it, when I’m working or doing anything at night mine pretty lives on my head.
I usually agree, but the come in pretty handy when you fall or you need to do quick work with your hands while holding the light (if the light is small you can quickly put it into your pocket, I can’t to this with my TM16GT). You just leave your hand from the light and you know they are still safe and close to you.
They can also be used to attach the lights (or the chemical lights) around, if needed.
Here is my similar setup. I copied the below text from a post I made in another flashlight group.
Working on putting together my flashlight grab-and-go box. My plan for this is to have a light for about every need I have on a regular basis so that I can grab it and know I’m prepared. Right now I keep my CL25R, E21, and HL35 in my Maxpedition EDC bag but I want to have one case that keeps my larger lights, a charger, and spare cells in along with additional smaller lights. Many times when I’m working I may be out late at night and need more lights than what are in my edc bag. So far I have my Fenix CL25R (the bright spot in the upper corner) E21, HL35, TK41, and TK45 in there. I also have my Nitecore D4. Hopefully this week though I can order the Fenix CL20, E20, and another HL35 to put in there as my CL25R, E21, and HL35 will remain in my EDC bag. Between the box, which is a pelican 1400, and my edc bag I should have enough lights for about anything I run into and/or loan to friends or family when we are working.
