My modding skills are pretty negligible,so I like to purchase lights that have been deemed to be
good just the way they came?
Thrunite TN42 :+1:
Nitecore MH20GT :+1:
Nitecore EC4, Olight in general, Skilhunt H03…
Pretty much all branded lights are good in stock form if you are okay with meh tints.
Noctigon M43 Meteor
It’s really hard to improve it in any way.
BLF X5. A right little powerhouse in a tiny weeny body.

Nitecore P12GT

I have one - a portable carbide light.
Unless you’re chasing numbers on a light meter or dmm, most folks really only need to mod if the emitter tint is bad. So if you just want great lights to use and enjoy without fiddling with, buy stuff with good emitters. And by good, I mean Nichia (and maybe the occasional XP-L HI).

Well I bought a Jaxman Z1 zoomie to mod it XML2 NW and the moment I clicked it on I knew I would leave it stock (so bought a host of it fo modding)
The anodization of my Kronos X6 is bad, even the friction of the clip made my jean create a ano free streak under the clip so I bought a XML2 NW Eagle Eye X6 and here too just a sweet light and I found a super host for the Kronos parts (review pending)
I used to think it needed a moonlight mode, but I have changed my mind: it’s perfect as is.
The single mode is especially important for non-flashaholics, they seem to hate learning how to operate multi-mode lights.

Sinner Titanium 18350 EDC triple with Nichia 219B Hi CRI emitters. Perfect, right out of the box. ![]()
Edit: Kawiboy stole my first idea, the Thrunite TN42. Excellent long distance light with not a thing needed but cells.
Edit II: You don’t HAVE to do anything to the Sinner Ti EDC, but if you want you can disassemble it and put some fire on it for a change of pace…
I think the same argument can be made for much of the TN-line of lights. They’re really good lights. I personally wouldn’t do a thing to my TN35. Any fan of MT-G2 emitters should have one.
Dangit! Now I have to go look up a Thrunite TN35…… ugh.
Thorfire TK4A.
- DQG Tiny III 26650 neutral - great light. No modding needed.
- DQG Tiny IV 18650 neutral - great unmodded. Optionally, makes a good host for a tiny triple, but this is a relatively advanced mod.
- Zebralight SC600w III HI - no modding needed. Great light.
