Narrow LED strip lights

Hi, I’m new to the forum, but I thought this would be the right place to ask.

I work at a museum, and for part of an exhibit I’m trying to side light some 1/4” acrylic shapes, just like they do with acrylic signs (like this).

My problem is that the shapes don’t have a straight edge like most of the signs that I see online, so I thought I’d wrap LED strips around the shapes.

I’m looking for LED strip lighting that is 1/4” or narrower, but I’m finding it hard to search for strip by width.

I thought someone on the forum might know of a particular application or brand or website where they use really narrow LED strips.

Thanks for the help!

?

5mm is a “common” width for very narrow stripes, just search for it  (1/4” = 6,35mm)

That was so easy! Thanks for the advice.

Tell us when your museum installation is open for visitors? I’m nearby, so are several others.

It’s a longer term exhibit development project, so it probably won’t be on the floor until late 2016. We’re just doing some initial prototyping right now.

The idea is to make targets for an activity by attaching a contact mic to a sheet of acrylic, then sensing vibrations when it’s hit.

I’d like the targets to light up when they’re hit, which is where the LED strips come in.

I’ll have to build a prototype and test it to see if the idea is viable. Everything on the museum floor has to be very robust!
