15 mins until test right? watching
.
YES ! They are aiming for 3:00 pm.
Have you ever seen one live CNCman? a lift off I mean - it must be amazing to watch.
Exciting, watching!
SLS is using the leftover RS-25 engines from the space shuttle missions right?
I take it worst case, if this did fail then NASA would have to move to using commercial rockets for Artemis?
.
No, never been to KSC to watch a launch.
I have been here at Stennis Space Center for a few tests, it rained from the steam cloud every time the wind was not blowing too hard. I live 15 miles from this test.
I have watched the shuttle flyby after launch during day and night launches when we lived in Florida.
.
Looks like they will try for 4:00 pm now.
.
I'm watching!
Yes, these are the same engines, albeit slightly modified that launched the space shuttle. The actual sales will add 2 SRBs (solid fuel) on the main vehicle. I dont think it will be as powerful as the Saturn V when said and done, but close. NASA actually considered the Saturn V F1 rocket engines when the SLS was drafted, but conuded it would have been too costly and complicated to completely remanufacture incredibly complicated engines designed in the 60’s from basically blueprints and technical drawings (no CAD in 1960 or 3D modeling).
IF this fails, it will likely be the end of SLS and they may use commercial rockets, but who knows. It’s a government-funded agency that’s been on the cusp for a decade as far as grants and funding/budget shortfalls. They may scrap it entirely.
They have 55 minutes until Escape From New York starts on film 4………
I have the original boxed VHS tape of it that they used to supply to the ‘rental shops’ remember those? lol
It’s about to go off…
Hot Firing Now!
Early Shutdown, but no pumps or engines in the flame bucket!
Here comes the rain!
Incomplete test. Not a failure. The test will need completing before moving fwd to the KSC.
That’s even better than watching the microverse slow ramp on Rick and Morty.
Anyone know what flashlights NASA uses?
HeadHelmet lamps! ;)
Built inhouse I assume?
