NCR18650B

Hi,

I bought 4 x NCR18650B cells, from f/t, they arrived today, so first thing I put them on charge which took ages 5 1/2 hours, to charge, not for me to put them on charge!!
They won’t fit in my UltraFire WF128-S charger, but do “rest” on the top of the contact ok and charge, seem very long, about 2-3mm longer than my AW’s, I tried them in my SRK, but jesus they are a tad long for that also, really had to apply some pressure to screw it firmly shut down enough to work.
Anyone else had this issue, was thinking cut down the springs a bit, fitted better in the carrier of my BTU Shocker, then thought I had read about “gold” springs, that are presumably shorter that I could solder onto the battery “board”.
Has any one done this, needed to do this, I really want to use the cells as they seem so so much better with these, not sure if it’s just cos they’re new or much better make etc, they are made by Panasonic, they also a little bit fatter so we make a good team ha ha.
Any input appreciated, thanks

ps can’t wait for TexasPyro drivers, going to be awsome

The newer large capacity cells are getting longer all the time. As far as cutting down springs, maybe not. Some springs stack up at the bottom when compressed, so cutting some off the top won’t make a difference. My Roche M170 wouldn’t accept protected batteries, so I swapped springs that compressed flat. That solved the problem. Some times removing the brass spring cap and nylon bushing on the tail works too.

No, cells are exactly 65 mm long, but the size of the protection circuit and the button top varies.
