I use a Keurig with the My K-Cup filter holder, and Medelco replacement filter, to brew several cups of Sumatra a day. It works perfect for me, but it will not make an “extra hot” cup of coffee.

Has it’s own water heater built-in. Heats the water to 195 to 200 degrees. Brews a pot in less than 5 minutes.
I have the Farberware 8 and 12 cup electric purc's. I bought mine back in the early 90's when they were still made in the USA. I like them because you can easily buy replacement parts if needed. I replaced the thermostat a few years ago on the 8 cup for $6.00. Can't beat that...
The stove top perc you mentioned looks interesting. I might buy one just to have just in case the power goes out. (We have natural gas here. I can still cook without power)

i know i wouldnt want to do that just for a cup of coffee, but i read it makes some of the best brew

Great flavor and pretty easy to clean. I have a cheap Braun grinder and keep the can of beans in the cupboard. If we ever need more volume, I’d probably get a Moccamaster.

i probably wont. i didnt like using a regular drip coffee machine first thing in the morning, thats why i went with a keurig lol. would like to try it sometime though
Pulsar, I had 4 Keurig's over the past 5 years. They all ended up crapping out due to bad pumps within a year, or a little longer. The last one was a Cuisinart I bought from Costco. I was able to return it for a full refund after it died in a little over a year. K Cups are too expensive anyway. My favorite was Green Mountain Black Magic Extra Bold. I used to buy them from coffeecow.com. I got back to my roots and I'm a Perc man all the way. Much hotter than any other coffee maker, and better flavor as well...

only time i used a perk was camping with a stove top, and im a late riser and id always get the bottom of the pot. too much grinds for me. so i bought a coleman propane powered coffee machine
same machine, but i didnt spend no where near retail for it, more like half that. too bad there was no dual fuel option though

Liking the idea of using the stove - no cords to make a mess on the counters. Maybe a gas fired perc……or maybe a siphon, but I know my wife would find it too contraptiony…….has to be simple and easy. We don’t use the timer or any other features really just on and make coffee.

i do like it… i mean, it lacks the kick and depth of regular coffee, but the acidity too (and i was drinking too much coffee lately and it was a problem). Good thing is that you don’t need to get the best beans, roast them one by one when saturn and mars form a straight line with pluto and use water from the glaciers in iceland to get the best coffee ever… with cold brewing they all taste pretty much the same (and aren’t we in a budget forum? )
We have a Filtron Cold Brew System. In the summer time my wife uses it to make cold coffee. It make a concentrated coffee syrup and works well. My wife likes it but I don’t care for cold coffee and enjoy hot coffee on even the hottest days.
You guys have fine taste in coffee makers. I got my mother a Hamilton Beach or someother brand from walmart for about $30. And it keeps the coffee hot, to the point where after 10 seconds you have to set the coffee cup down if you are holding the cup of the mug. To me, the over $150 coffee makers are like Surefires.
