Need help choosing bike light.

Have been looking at the SOLARSTORM XT 40 and the ULTRAFIRE D66.
Both have xm l2 leds, solarstorm has 4 leds, ultrafire has 5 leds, both run 4 x 18650.
Iam looking for a more of a floody beam.
Has anybody got these lights to share any thoughts? or any other info or views.

So, anybody?

I have this light. I like the idea of using my own high quality batteries. http://www.amazon.com/Fenix-BT20-Bike-Flashlight-Gray/dp/B00A30PIW2/ref=pd_sbs_misc_2

I have in my mind that a single led will not give the flood i am looking for.
I see the fenix offers both flood and throw, but will this be in the range i am looking for ? considering i am looking at multi emitter lights.

I'd choose the Solarstorm X2. This light has pretty good reviews around the web. Pretty sure there are good beamshots over on MTBR forum also. You can also just use a floody flashlight with a mount instead of a dedicated bike light with it's generally crappy batteries and chargers.

Quick search yielded this link.

What about two ss x2,s either side of the handle bar stem ? and possibly change the reflector for a floody optic.

What about spritzing the reflectors with clear coat for an OP effect to smooth the beam? Or use diffusion film (perhaps diffuse only one side)?

Yeah, i think two ssx2,s and play around with one for more flood, swop out the reflectors for optics from fasttech maybe. Cheers.

I got to play with this bike light in store the other day:

And was quite impressed. Build quality was very good, beam profile was quite floody with a wide spill and an oval shaped hotspot.

I also had a look at this bike light in store:

Which wasn’t even close, much poorer in build quality, not nearly as bright and was much less floody.

From what I’ve read the Solarstorm bike light is a little on the spotty side and doesn’t have much of a wide floody spill. Try reading up on MTBR forums, plently of bike light reviews there.

I also using Fenix BT20 for night ride. I mostly using medium brightness level because it’s already brighter than most vehicles on the street.

I wrote small review here.
