My first post on this forum! Howdy everyone!
A little brief background on myself:
I have a few years of electronics vocational school and have tinkered with electronics most of my life. I have a few bright LED flashlights so I am not completely new to the arena.
I am interested in building my own light bar for my truck. I have become a bit overwhelmed in my search for components. I have been bouncing back and forth on concept. I am now thinking of mounting 6 or so Cree XML-T6 100lm 3-3.7v diodes on a piece of 2”x2” square aluminum tubing and driving them with a 3.3v dc/dc buck converter.
I was looking at getting some sst-90 led’s but they are out of my price range for this project.
I have also looked at a set of 10 10w 800-900lm SMD Chip LED’s I am looking at on ebay. The problem with this is how do I regulate 13.8v down to 12v? I Am not seeing a lot of options for voltage regulation from 13.8 to 12v.
even after I select my LED’s and drivers, I will need to find some sort of reflectors.
Does anyone have any input on any of this?
