I can understand that. I still like having a headlamp, but I prefer something very throwy if not a pure thrower. It's also nice for taking a quick look at my chain, although it's best to do that with a lower setting.
Strange thing is I normally love headlights….camping, smoking, around the house, whatever I have a crappy lil 3xAAA “Timber Creek” I got at Academy when the power was out after hurricane Ike for 10 bucks that I use the everloving hell out of.
I WANT to buy a real headlamp, the newest ones that have a separately activated red LED look killer for astronomy/stargazing (another light hobby of mine). I almost require a red LED for headlamps, but HATE having to cycle through the white’s to get to it. I’m always scared to death some other stargazer at the site will nerd-rage on me if I’m turning my headlamp on, and flash him with 150+ lumens right into his pupils >.>
