Need to build an XR-E dropin with red led... Couple of questions.

I currently own a crappy XP-R red led dropin. I am getting 1.00 amps at the tail on the existing driver. I would like to know just how hard these can be pushed if mounted on a direct thermal path star. I am considering getting an XP-E2 from Richard, from what I have read maybe 1.5 amps is about all they can take. But, I know there are folks here who have tried it and will know just how hard they can be pushed. And, how hard can I push my existing XP-E that is mounted on an aluminum star? If I would not gain much with the E2 I might consider moving the E to a good star.

Thanks Matt

I think XP-E2 on Noctigon fine @ 1.9A.

You are talking all red leds, are you? In that case: mounting a XR-E on a DTP star (it fits a MT-Noctigon) does not help, going to XP-E will help a lot and XP-E2 will be even better, data here: https://budgetlightforum.com/t/-/25262
