Need very floody small flashlight

A friend of mine is losing his eyesight, hard seeing at night.
I believe I can help him with a somewhat small pocket very floody throwing light. Preferably not very expensive.
I’m new to the Forum and to high-tech flashlights .
I need all the help I can get, this is very important. Thanks for your replies .Doc

How about a single mode SK68. It’s a zoomie but when it isn’t zoomed in provides lots of flood. Dirt cheap too.

You can find them cheaper on Banggood or similar but here is a Amazon link for 2 of them for $10. One to use and one as a back up.

I’m thinking maybe a little brighter. I think for the average person AA is a good choice.

You could do a Convoy S2+ with something like a 60 degree waffle type TIR lens. I’m sure there is a technical name for them that I am at a loss for remembering. Someone will chime in here with the proper lens I am talking about. Looks like a waffle on the front. Buddy of mine just gave me one. Very very floody. Drops right into a S2+.

Convoy’s AliExpress Store.

Hello Doc,

This one is 2 AA cells and I’ve gifted 5 or 6 of these. Everybody loves them.

Zanflare F2 or F2S

Edited because I wrote that this was on a flash sale but the sale seems to have ended

How about an Astrolux S43S or S43….has a lot of power but a good low with a ramping UI. For under $30 with coupon….uses a single 18650 or 18350 battery that can be muggle friendly with the onboard charging. It has an illuminated switch, so its easy to locate in the dark.

How about a 11$ Boruit D10/ ehl0628 worn loose around the neck gives a ton of light when needed and usb recharges ….one of my most recommended budget light offerings as of late . Add a kick but 5$ battery or throw some laptop pulls for next to nothing ,,

Emisar D4?

I would recommend Emisar D4 with frosted optic. Floody as hell

I purchased the Convoy S2+.
Question is does anybody know of a lens that will give more flood light.
Has anybody had any problems ordering from best gear? Because my bank sent me a fraud alert.

Nah I think you should order directly from the manufacturer on Aliexpress instead, from the Convoy store.

You can purchase a 60° lens from the same store.

I would recommend also buying the Convoy S2+ SST-20.

It has excellent color rendition which is very important.

Select the 7135x4 for best balance between power and battery life.

The Coast HX5 is a 1AA one output level adjustable focus light with a tail switch. The adjustable focus allows for close up lighting in flood or more distant lighting in spot mode. I’ve been carrying this clipped to the top of my back pocket for about two years with no problems.

Coast also has a new rechargeable HX5R, which has two output levels and recharges by removing the tail cap to expose the male USB plug that plugs in to a USB port on your computer or wall charger. This version has a side switch. I haven’t used this version.

I would order the floody lens (60 degrees) directly from the Convoy S2+ manufacturer (Simon at Aliexpress) at this link here. I used them on a couple of my Convoy S2+, so I know they will fit.

@DOC1500, here is the link to the light I mentioned:

Do you know why/how your friend is losing his eyesight?

There are (shudder) a lot of ways. Not all can be helped by more bright light.

It’s degenerative and irreparable. I already bought the Convoy S2+ thanks guys for your help

Welcome fellow Pennsylvanian . You can try adding DC Fix to your lens. Much more flood with a little less throw.

Doc, make sure he gets a good quality Li-ion battery and charger. Check out Li-ion Safety Concern.

You bet.

I recommend aspheric based flooders (zoomies included).
F.e. Utorch S1 Mini I think I paid something like $10 or 11 for mine, but such prices happen rarely. SK68 is much easier to buy cheaply.

They tend to have better beam uniformity than TIR / reflector flooders as well as a sharp cutoff which makes it easy to avoid shining at people.
