I got the U-80 from Manafont at $42 at the beginning of the year. The surface is supposed to be HA, very smooth and is comparable to Solarforce L2P. This one does not flake much at the edges, it got quite a fair bit of use from me....my Solarforce starting to flake already. The threading is very smooth, the tailcap threading feel is just maybe 1/2 a level below Fenix/Jetbeam. Threading feel definitely feels better than Solarforce L2P with S8 tailcap. This one comes with the Ultrafire box (like your UF-H2 from dinodirect).
There is a Keygos variant, at MF it is termed as a U-80 mimic. That is the usd28 one. Looks like a decent light as well from ILIKEFLASHLIGHT's description. The pill is also a different design.
Which version is DX selling, that i am not sure.
The UF U-80, the real one, seems to be quite shock-proof, that i can personally endorse. Some people would have read my story, SS bezel chipped because it dented concrete, glass smashed and also bursted the reflector, but light is working. MF stocks the reflector (coz i requested them to bring it in), you can get replacement glass for 10 pack IIRC for just below 3 bucks.
Confirm DX is selling the mimic. There is no break just above the 3 hex rings. The real one has a break. I am looking at the MF picture as well as mine right now.
The mimic has a screw-in brass pill, so there is no break in the host.
Performance probably would not be much different. The U-80 is just a normal XM-L light, some say the design suck. But the HA is holding up pretty ok. The surfacing is really different from the others.
Old thread I know, but has anyone played with either of these? I wanna buy one cause the quality looks good, I dunno if it would be comparable to KD C8 lumen wise though.
Has anyone noticed that they all say Digitally Regulated 1400mA Current Output in the description, which is 1.4A correct? If that is true, how can you possibly get even close to 900lm?
