What’s going on on the outside is bit too noisy to my taste (what do designers have with those medieval battlement things on the bezel?), but everything to get rid of the classic C8 design

T.b.h. I still like the classic maglite design, which is timeless, do we really need all those fins?

You probably already know the answer but still:
‘Unfortunately’ yes. Led flashlights do require some way to dissipate the heat. Using fins is the most efficient way that is easy to incorporate in a flashlight design.
I do agree that the sleek looking classic maglite design is great and timeless.

I really hope it has a very good solid led shelf. Otherwise those fins are a waste.
