Another novelty just (9-24-2015) released: 2 x AA powered headlamp HA20
Some basic info:
Max Output -> 300 lumens

Max Run time -> 160 h 0 m / 6.67 d
LED -> CREE XP-G2

Special Modes -> Location Beacon, Slow Flashing, SOS

Looks pretty good.
The weight seems reasonable. For example a comparable headlamp Fenix HL30 weighs 87g and has lower output.
I wonder why it’s only IP67 though.
Depending on the price that might be the one for me. I find headlamps mostly get used for fairly close work ie clearing a room out that has no lights or camp use within the camp area. For distance work I prefer a standard torch so don’t need a 1000 lumen monster but do want something that will cope with most situations.
You feel the same as i do with headlamps that use Li Ion cells. ( i only have one headlamp that use 18650s, all the rest are AA. (a unlucky moment where one 18650 goes bad and vents/explodes while on the head.)
Red leds on HA20 not only blinky;
16 lumens is declarate by Nitecore for this Red LED “F5” on HA20, not seems much power , but is enough for indoor use.
seems like a great light! it will be good for fishing and hunting you can use the red light to see in front of you so you don’t scare away the animals and the fish and also has good output for two AA batteries!
I see red mode in headlamps as a way to preserve night vision for close distance illumination as well as being not so well visible in the dark by surrounding animals, people included :D!
If there is a need for throw, either change the main emitter with red LED or use regular flashlight with red emitter with more throw ;)!
I really wish manufacturers would add as many modes to additional red/green/blue/whatever color LED’s as the main LED has, not just super low(Xtar H2) or medium-high modes(Skilhunt H02C).
