2 in series, and 4 of those parallel. This determines driver design to power the leds. You can have more throw for less $ than this light, but you’ll most likely have a smaller hotspot, and much less bright spill.

For example a single emitter XHP35 HI light with decent sized reflector like the Atrolux MF02, or the Imalent RT35. Both are in the order of $80 with coupon.
And for an even smaller hotspot with less bright spill there’s the upcoming Noctigon K1 discussed here: Emisar D1sV2 respectively Noctigon K1 - #48 by Hank_Wang

P.S. We don’t know for sure the HT70 actually does 1500m / ~550klux

The ad shows that it uses NarsilM. If accurate, then yes, it functions the same as the FT03. I would want some verification that it uses NarsilM, though. Haikelite have tried to make their own ramping software in the past.

Looks like they did not have enough solder paste,flashback from my TN32 where the LED burnt. Thrunite/Illumns took care of me immediately.

Just got it today.Did not even use 2 minutes and I notice smoke under the lens! One of the LEDS burnt.

I EXPECT a Full refund for a DEFECTIVE product. If not, PAYPAL dispute!

Photo right after it happened. Chemical film is noticeable under lens.

Wow! Hopefully this is an isolated case and not a sign that the SST70 has poor reliability/robustness.

My guess is the LED was not mounted on the heat sink with enough solder paste. Same thing that happened to my TN32 on January 31,2014! Exactly 6 years ago,just looked it up. My Grandmom-98, passed away 12 years ago today.

Im late to this party, any word on how this light is now - 8 months later? longevity-wise? did the seller take care of the issue? is the throw/lumens adequate or close to claimed? thanks! and hope you got your issue solved with the burnt led. and thanks for all the quality input on this forum, im new but i see your posts all over here.

I have the Haikelite HT70. Mine didn’t have any problems even if running on Turbo with 8 VTC6 batteries.

It does get hot fast, which I take as a sign of a good thermal path. The cooling rips are deep and the knurling is very grippy. It is a very nice flashlight, maybe with SST70 5000K or even 4000K 95CRI it would get the attention it deserves. They could also put in XHP70.2 leds to get a smaller GT4. But Haikelite seems to sleep these days.

So far I didn’t open it because the Haikelite flashlights are always a bit complicated to open with the reflector screw. If my SST70 leds would fail I would replace them with dedomed XHP70’s.
