Interesting and good looking flashlight; it has nice proportions. Also really nice that all the 3 color filters are included.

Based on the video from Flashaholic it looks like it has an SFT-40 LED I think? The beam profile looked pretty good, based from what I could see on the video.

Given that it is mainly a tactical style light, it might not be that important, but personally I would have liked to see a (extra) ‘Low’ mode, between Moonlight and Medium; to me it feels like the gap between Moonlight and Medium is a bit too big, but again: it being a tactical light, it might be not as important to the intended public.

Nonetheless: good to see UltraFire bringing out new flashlights!

Looks like a nice compact thrower! Agree with @Wingman that it would be nice to have an additional mode, I’d say around 30-50lm, for general use.

I think this description needs to be updated:

  • The beamshots suggest that the secondary optic is a reflector, not TIR;
  • A peak intensity of 7562cd translates to 174m of throw, not 550m. The 550m figure seems reasonable given the LED choice and reflector size. This corresponds to 75625cd–looks like the final digit 5 got lost somewhere!

Optical description error:
You’re right. Based on actual beamshots, the secondary optic is a reflector, not a TIR lens. This was an error in our description, and we’ ll correct it to “reflector” immediately.

Peak intensity and throw calculation error:
A peak intensity of 7,562 cd only calculates to ~174m throw.Your deduced 75,625 cd is the reasonable value.This was a typo/data entry error—the final digit “5” was omitted.

Regarding your and @Wingman’s suggestion for a medium mode (30-50 lumens) for daily use: We’ ve recorded it and will treat it as key input for future designs.

Looks like a great little thrower, similar to the old-timey HS-802. Deep reflector “pushes” the light to the front to concentrate it better.

Definitely not a fan of any hateful blinky modes except for beacon (high-intensity blips every few seconds), but if they’re needed, what I despise is always-start-on-strobe then go to sos/beacon after. Just like mode-memory, it should be easy to make blinkymode “sticky”, ie, select which mode, then have it stick, so every time blinkymode is entered, it goes into that mode.

The Skilhunts like the M200 have that, and it’s the least-annoying blinkymode there is.

Also, it’s nice that it’s a fixed-frequency strobe, and especially with the filters, should be touted as a great light for “light-painting”. LPers constantly clamor for fixed-frequency strobes vs the goofball 2-frequency alternating strobes. And with r/g/b filters? They’d be in Hawg Heaven!

Seriously, beat on that feature, gear it to LPers, and a lot of them would probably scoop up some lights just for that.

21700 is a great form-factor, not much thicker than 18650, and half-or-more as much more runtime.

@UltraFireOfficial I have had a look into your flashlights, and all of them that I would be interested in have Strobe/SOS-Modes.
In my experience, no one wants those modes to be in the normal mode selection. Hide them in triple-click if side switch or just leave them out if rear switch.
What I think is the most basic and most wanted UI for a normal flashlight is

Long click from off: Moon
Normal click: access to 3 to 5 modes from less bright to bright
double click: Turbo

Remove long and double click for rear switch lights.

Or make something like Convoy, make the drivers with different programs and let the customer choose.

The T6’s strobe and SOS modes are all controlled via the side button, and brightness adjustment is also done with the side button.
The tail button is only for turning the flashlight on and off.

From the above description, it’s still not obvious to me how the strobe/SOS modes and accessed via the side switch: it’s unclear what the parenthesis around (Moonlight → Medium → High) means.

Since the user interface is such an important aspect of a flashlight, it can make the difference between someone buying a light or not, so it’s good to communicate it as clearly as possible. I think a flowchart like the following (taken from Anduril 2, a standard e-switch UI for enthusiast lights) would be very helpful. Notice that it indicates what action each arrow represents, and has a legend indicating what abbreviations like “1C, 2H” mean.

It does for me, indeed.
If a light has a side switch and therefore the driver is hard to change, the modes need to be good, and good for me means no strobe or SOS.
I will not buy a light like this.
Back switch - I don’t care, I will just put a Convoy driver in it.
Light with two switches: nogo for me.

I personally never saw the necessity of having two switches, but decided to enter this giveaway to see what it’s like, since lots of lights marketed toward tactical folks have multi-switch designs. Also curious about the driver architecture and modability.

But yeah for e-switch lights the UI is even more crucial then tailswitch-only. Before @UltraFireOfficial finalizes on the UI, it would be good to poll this community to get a sense of their general preference (like how many modes, spacing between modes, special modes like strobe/SOS), or adopt an already-popular UI similar to Anduril 2 Simple Mode shown above.

I’m not sure where I imagined or hallucinated this, but I seem to recall that clicking the side button cycles L/M/H, and that holding for 2sec gets strobe (yecch) and holding for 3sec gets you SOS (double-yecch).

I always recommend “sticky blinkies”, that you can cycle somehow between whatever other blinkies but also BEACON, which I find handy at times. This way, you 3click or whatever to generic blinkymode and it goes to whichever blinky you selected.

The Skilhunts like at least the M200 (dunno the M300, M150, etc., as ain’t got) have sticky blinkies, last I recall. Including beacon. Which I love because it sounds like bacon. :bacon:

Anyway, I agree that blinkies that are too easy to get to, especially accidentally, can absolutely kill a UI and make a light… not quite unusable, but definitely not one you’d want to EDC. Last thing you want is to be a bit slow on the trigger and get blasted with a faceful of epilepsy-inducing strobing light.

I could live with press’n’hold to go to “turbo” (if higher than normal high) and hold-while-turning-on to go into moonlight/firefly mode for things like map-/watch-reading, etc.
