I have the 5 emitter version too. And this one is IMO a better canditate for modding into a good 5 XM-L light.. And cheaper.. Future mod host.. :)
Not recommended for those who don't plan on doing mechanical work. Good value otherwise.

the driver is seems easy to mod but the pill is kind of suck
I wonder if it’s possible to add copper disk in there and loosen the head slightly to accommodate the height?

I have done one of those, or a look alike. Same pill and driver. Not near enough metal to do an MT-G2 safely. No mass at all, hollow pill which is flat as a pancake. Nice design, poor implementation. It will get very hot very fast. Nice looking light.
I was just about to pull the trigger on one of these (currently $22 shipped on Ali) but that pill looks useless. It certainly looks like a much heavier light from the outside.
