That R12 of 91.7 is insane! Most high CRI emitters around 4000K are stuck in the low 80’s due to blue spike and cyan dip. As I expected, Luminus seems to have figured out a solution to this problem.
Could be just an effect of drive current and secondary optic used.
I’m really happy with the 4000K SFT-70 so far, tonight I’m going to go out for a night hike to really test it out.

Like the SFT40 4000K, these SST36 in 90CRI are not on Luminus’s official catalogue. KD seems to have a knack for getting these engineering samples.
The 5700K is strictly inferior to 519A, though the 6500K could be interesting.
Anyone have SFT-70 5700K 90CRI beamshoots?

SFT-70X-WG57, 5700K, CRI 90, G7 flux bin, CA chromaticity bin. Tested in a beaded optic at 1A, 2A, 4A, and 6A. Not very impressive. R9 falls below 50 above 2.2A, and the colour rendering is rather poor at the maximum current rating of 4A, and even worse by 6A.
SFT-70X-WH27-HV2, 2700K, CRI 95, G2 flux bin, JC1 chromaticity bin. Tested in a beaded optic at 1A, 2A, 4A, and 6A. Technically this isn’t a good chromaticity bin, but the tint is nice and neutral at all outputs, and it still meets the CRI 95 minimum at 4A, though R9 suffers a bit. 2700K SFT-40 behaves fairly similarly.
Interesting observation, I seem to notice that for SFT40/70 3000K, the green (HB4) bins are consistently neutral/rosy next to a halogen bulb, while for SST20 4000K, even rosy bins (like FD2) can be green. Maybe it’s down to the choice to center the bins above the BBL for 4000K/above.
The SFT70 4000K 95CRI seems to break this trend, but would be nice to see more data. Being domeless necessitates the use of a different phosphor mix from that of the SST20.
SFT-70X-WH40, 4000K, CRI 95, G4 flux bin, 40E3 chromaticity bin. Tested in a beaded optic at 1A, 2A, 4A, and 6A. This chromaticity bin is a large 3-step MacAdam ellipse that is theoretically quite a tint lottery. The batch I’m testing here is absolutely gorgeous, with neutral tint and very high CRI. There is essentially no CCT or tint shift through a wide range of currents, and the colour rendering holds up very well even at 6A. I tested two other samples with similar results.
Have you tested maybe the 70CRI too? This one looks amazing, maybe they will make 5000K in the future with similar duv. One could hope
Do you happen to have R12 readings for the SFT70 4000K? The spectrum you got looks very different from the one posted by @Kraids, with a significant blue spike. Wonder if there are different batches of the emitter floating around, or if the other spectrometer didn’t have enough precision to detect the spike.

Thanks for clarifying! I should have noticed that something is off, based on the very heavy tail that extends all the way to 780nm and beyond–white LEDs just don’t have this much far red. Now I’m a tiny bit less excited about this emitter, pending another R12 reading.
A dab of Kafuter 705 clear silicone on the phosphor raises the CCT, at the expense of greener tint and some R9. (This is essentially the opposite of dedoming.) If your sample is very rosy to start with, you might end up with neutral tint.
SFT-25R High CRI LEDs once again it’s here
Ordered’em again but asked KD to really check if it’s 5000K like they sent me last time or it’s really 5700K.
5000k was a bit shity
SFT-25R in high CRI and even lower CCT would be nice for me 5000-5700K is still to high for my taste.
Around 4000K would be ok for me.
I personally would like 2700K but i also get the you loose a lot of lumens with this. so for a thrower i would consider 3500-4000K
Anyways i might order some of the SFT-25R in 5700K to test them
